Tatsu Ramen on Melrose Ave must be in my top 3 ramen places in the LA area! While I would typically not enjoy the self-service for this kind of meal much, I am still giving it a 5-star because the ramen is so delicious, rich, and flavorful. Love the broth, tenderness of the meat, and perfectly cooked egg. There is usually a small line as you arrive but the wait is short. Indoor and outdoor seating options are available. Parking depends on the day/time of your visit but I have never had to look too far fortunately!

The customizable options allow you to create the perfect bowl, and their spicy ramen is a must-try for anyone who loves a bit of heat. Ramen was very flavorful, I order the Bold Ramen with Chicken and it was so tender- not too chewy or soft. Service was great because they kept checking on us. I did not get water only drink and Juan asked if we wanted water, shows how attentive they are. Regardless I would not have cared because the food was distracting me front my thirst maybe. I also got chicken dumplings, which came before the ramen and calmed my hunger well enough for a warm flavorful ramen. Delicious!!

I love the Ramen bowl with chicken and the fried rice..DELICIOUS. I also wanna give a shout out to the general manager, JUAN who resolved a small delivery issue that I had with my order. I'm grateful to his customer service and delicious food they serve. Thanks again, Juan

Came in and ordered the hippie ramen which is vegetarian. It was so delicious. The broth has a lot flavor and it's jam packed with spinach and scallions. I could tell it was healthy. It's a self service restaurant and the ambience is fine for a quick meal. The seats aren't very comfortable but it's a casual spot. I'd definitely come back here for ramen.

I was looking for ramen places while in the area and Tatsu was the clear popular fave so we had late dinner here after a concert at the El Rey theater on July 28th at 12:42 AM. Pros about this place: FIRST, check-in on Yelp and get a free bowl of rice! Make sure to notify one of the employees of this and they will take care of the free rice. When you walk in, you order your food using the touch screen menu and pay for it there as well which means no splitting of the check after which is great AND each person that check's in on Yelp can use that offer as opposed to one check-in offer per table or per party. They are open late and they have family style seating with the long benches and tables so if you're a big group this is ideal. Everything we ordered came out in a timely manner and was fresh. Cons about this place: Their broth is cooked with some shellfish or seafood, but its not actually in the soup. I will say, I read this and thought nothing of it, but afterwards I remembered there being a sort of fishy taste to the broth. I ordered the standard tonkatsu or pork ramen and it had a slight fishy aftertaste. That was the only big con for me. For one person, I ordered the Old Skool Ramen with all the standard fixings and added an egg at an extra cost ($18.48 + 3.48). I also ordered a Mexican Sprite which costed me $4.75, Fried Rice $8.98 (this was before I checked in on Yelp and realized there's free rice). All together I spent $44.43 with tip. Not cheap at all, but there's definitely ways to cut the cost down. Tatsu is a solid ramen joint for late night eats with the homies. All of the employees working that night were on top of everything and took care of us.

2 bold chicken ramens with extra greens, liquid death, melon cream soda and I asked for some chili paste and chili oil to throw on top! I've passed this place for the past 10 years of living in LA and I finally stopped since this is one of the only spots open late night especially on Monday nights. I have also seen this spot and been interested but was super stoked on finally trying it and it was well worth it. Staffed checked in on me at least 2-3 times and your spot gets cleaned up and wiped down right after you leave. You walk in and select your whole order on an iPad and then sit down and wait about 6-7 minutes before they bring you the bowls. I give this place an 8-9/10. The ramen noodles reminded me of almost like spaghetti noodles but the broth was bomb! I'll definitely be coming back to this spot!
